Halfway through the season, I predicted that Collingwood would make the grand final and I would be on the opposite side of the country when it happened! I could never have predicted last week's result though! This is a photo of us just before the game started - full of hope and optimism. At the end of the day we were in shocked disbelief. A draw! Oh well, it was better than a loss - and we get more use out of the streamers I made. So it's grand final day again today, and we have everything crossed. GO PIES!

The kids spent most of the time playing with their new friends, Gracie, Alex and Meg. Brodie took a little time to adjust to so much girl energy, but soon discovered that girls can be cool and lots of fun! Sadly, we had to say goodbye last Tuesday as they headed home to Sydney. We'll miss you, girls!

We've had a few late afternoon storms this week.. After talking so much about wet season, and then visiting the Cyclone Tracy exhibit at the museum, it was a little unnerving to watch these dark clouds rolling towards us. In actual fact, the brief rain and wind is a welcome relief and helps to cool things down.

We've all been busy this week working for Darren's cousin Liza. She collects seed pods from native plants, cleans the seeds out and sells them to nurseries, etc. Darren's done the bulk of the work, but the kids have enjoyed helping out at times because it's "a real job" - not like helping with the dishes or making their beds!

The highlight of the week was going ten pin bowling last night. We told the kids they could choose somewhere special they wanted to go for their birthdays and Brodie chose bowling. Darren's cousins Liza and Bernie, and Bernie's wife Fiona came with us. The kids had never been bowling before so we had the gutter guards down on the lanes - which came in handy for the grown-ups too! Tara dropped the ball using two hands and it took forever to slowly roll down to the pins, but she actually scored really well - even getting a strike. It was hilarious to watch! So Brodie's counting down - only two more sleeps to his birthday.
